The 2025 animated film The King of Kings reignited my interest in the life of Jesus, much like The Passion of the Christ (2004) did years ago. The film is told through the eyes of a child, Walter, who is a mischievous boy fascinated by King Arthur. His father, the novelist Charles Dickens, tells him the story of Jesus in a way that resonates with a child’s imagination. This makes the film incredibly accessible for younger viewers. Movie Review: Crazy Rich Asians How many romances actually make it to the altar? I chose to watch Crazy Rich Asians (2018) simply because I wanted something fun, but I was pleasantly surprised by the profound message it carried. While I picked it for its glitzy, romantic aesthetic, the film offers a deep look into the maturity required to sustain love and the immense hurdles one must overcome before marriage.  To beat the summer heat, I went to the theater to watch the comedy-drama My Daughter is a Zombie (2025) . While the film started off funnier than I expected, it left me with much to contemplate by the middle. Two things stood out to me most: first, the realization that just because one is a biological parent does not mean they inherently possess unconditional love for their child. Second, the film feels like a message of hope for those living with incurable conditions. Watching a parent fight so desperately to heal their sick child brought me to tears. 스타에게 ‘인기’는 존재의 이유이자 삶을 지탱하는 힘이다. ‘인기’라는 빛은 언제나 그림자를 동반한다. 그래서 ‘인기’에는 그림자처럼 묵묵히 함께 걸어가는 존재가 있다. 가족보다 더 가깝고, 때로는 자기 자신보다 더 절실하게 스타를 믿는 사람, 바로 매니저다. 영화 ‘라디오 스타(2006)’는 이 독특한 관계를 담담하면서도 깊은 울림으로 담아냈다.  이 영화가 남다른 이유는 단순히 ‘몰락한 스타의 재기담’이 아니라, 함께하는 사람에 대한 이야기이기 때문이다. 화려했던 시절을 지나 변두리 무대에서 노래를 부르며 스스로를 여전히 ‘가수왕’이라 믿는 남자(박중훈), 그리고 그런 그를 끝까지 지켜보는 매니저(안성기). 두 사람이 만들어가는 인생은 덧없고 허탈해 보이지만, 그 안에는 자신의 스타를 향한 희망을 잃지 않는 인간의 소망이 깃들어 있다. 매니저 역의 안성기는 거창한 말 한마디 없이, 곁에 두고, 함께 싶은 인간의 모습을 보여준다. 그는 체념하지 않고 믿음과 신뢰로 자신의 스타를 돌본다. 물이 흐르듯 자연스러운 그의 연기는 미소 하나, 눈빛 하나만으로도 따뜻한 인간미를 발산한다. “나도 저런 매니저가 있으면 좋겠다”는 바람을 품게 만드는 이 영화가 개인적으로 ‘안성기의 영화’로 기억되는 이유다.  안성기가 빗속에서 우산을 들고 나타나 박중훈에게 다가가 조용히 우산을 씌워주는 마지막 장면은, 인생이 결국 ‘누가 내 곁에 남아 있는가’라는 질문으로 귀결된다. 영화 ‘러브 액츄얼리(2003)’ 속 가수 빌리와 매니저 조가 크리스마스에 만나는 장면을 떠올리게 하는 이 순간은, 화려한 쇼비즈니스 세계의 이면에 소박하지만 진실한 우정의 무게를 전하며 깊은 감동을 남긴다.  우리는 성공이나 명예를 쫓느라 종종 곁에 있는 사람을 놓친다. 그러나 영화 ‘라디오 스타’는 말한다. 인생의 중요한 순간은 결국 ‘누군가와 함께 있는 순간’이며, 그 순간 함께한 사람이야 말로 “내 인생의 빛나는 진짜 스타”라고.  마지막으로 안성기의 연기는 이 영화 ...

  연예인들에게 '인기'란 것은  살아가는 힘이 되는, 뭐랄까 삶에 활력소가 되는 '그 무엇'입니다. 반면,  인기라는 것은 '부질없는 것'이기도 하여  그 기간이 영원히 지속할 수 있는 것도 아닐 뿐 아니라  모든 사람이 아니라 일부 사람들의 관심 속에서 존재합니다.  어찌보면, 인기를 얻기 위한 연예인들의 삶이 일반인들의 성공을 위한 삶과 결국 비슷한 것 같습니다. 오늘은, 그런 인기를 먹고살았던(!) 스타에 대한 이야기를 살짝 담고 있는 영화 '라디오 스타'에 대한 이야기를 해볼까 합니다. 영화를 보고나서 영화 '라디오 스타'에 대해 얘기하고 싶었던 것은 인기에 연연하던 스타란 존재감 보다, 그 스타의 곁을 지켰던 주변인들의 따뜻한 삶이 살아 있는 이야기를 담은 영화 '라디오 스타'였습니다. 근래에 봤던 영화 중 가장 기분 좋은, 그리고 더불어 사는 삶이 살아볼만하다는 기분이 들게하는 영화였습니다. 어찌보면 평범한 이야기 같지만 평범하지 않게 만들어냈다고 해야 할까요?  먼저 '왕의 남자'에서보다 더 멋진 작품을 완성해낸 이준익 감독에게 갈채를 보내고 싶습니다. 영화 '라디오 스타'는 이렇게 전개됩니다.​ 이제는 한물간 락스타 ‘최곤’은 박중훈이 잘 연기했습니다. “니들이 최곤을 알아? 나 최곤이야. 가수왕 최곤이라구!”라는 말을 하면서 말입니다. ​미사리 까페 촌에서 80년대에서나 유행 했을 법한 헤어스타일의 남자가 기타를 치며 노래를 하고 있다. 그는 바로 88년도에 가수왕을 받았던, 락스타 최곤(박중훈 분)입니다. 불후의 명곡 이후 대마초 사건, 폭행사건 등에 연루돼 이제는 3류도 아닌 4류의 변두리에서 노래 부르는 신세로 전락해버렸지만 아직도 자신은 스타라고 굳게 믿고 있습니다. ​우리가 아는 ‘비와 당신’이라는 곡은 이 영화를 위해 박중훈이 직접 부른, 영화 속의 설정을 위해 탄생된 곡입니다. ‘가수왕’이 까페에서 노래 부른다는 사실...
